Soon it will be Spring again and I went ahead creating a fun and easy DIY Nail Art tutorial inspired by the coming Spring/Summer nail trends. For Spring we will see a lot of pastel pinks, chalk whites, glitters, dual tone manicures and beautiful shades of sky blue. A trend that really caught my eye is the Half Moon in a summery pastel or spicy neon on a nude (or nude colored) nail as seen on the runway in the Charlotte Ronson and Delpozo shows. Inspired by the trends (and combining them) I created the Half Moon in a sky blue on a nude/ soft pink looking nail with very subtle sparkles on the tips using some of the 750 colors from Sally Beauty; the O.P.I “Sweet Heart”, the FingerPaints “Tiffany Imposter”, the FingerPaints “Sterling Sculpture” (FingerPaints is exclusive to Sally Beauty) and ORLY white tip French manicure guides (stickers).

Step 1: Start with 1 layer of O.P.I “Sweet Heart”, use only 1 layer to keep the color sheer and the nail looking nude, natural and healthy. Let the nails dry.

Step 2:  Add the White Tip guides (stickers) to your nails, right in the middle, creating a half moon at the cuticles and leaving a little space at the tips.

Step 3: Use 1 or 2 layers of the blue FingerPaints “Tiffany Imposter” filling in the area around the cuticles. The polish is nice and creamy, perfect for creating the half moon! Let the nails dry a few minutes.

Step 4: After gently removing the manicure strips you can custom add the FingerPaints “Sterling Sculpture” glitter to the tips of your nails as you please for a subtle accent. (I like to cover little rough spots and chips in the nails with the glitter)

And Voila, you created a beautiful Half Moon on a natural and healthy looking nail 😉

I can never get the guides to stick right on my nails when I try this, but it looks so pretty so I’ll persevere!
